The e-waste maps project (E-lixo Maps) has the state of Sao Paulo’s Environment department partnering Sergio Motta Institute to offer a public database showing waste collecting points in São Paulo. The website developed by multimedia artist Martha Gabriel uses Google Maps to locate the places nearest your home where this type of scrap may be left. To find out where you can dispose of your e-waste, just visit the site and key in your postal code and type of waste – batteries, cell phones, computers, etc. – to see the nearest disposal sites. More collection points may be entered as the project develops. If your organization is not taking part yet, use the “join” button on the main menu to register.
