Lucia Santaella | Artes do Pós-humano
Santaella’s writings have been seminal for the understanding of artistic production on new media, including Culturas e artes do pós-humano (Editora Paulus, 2003) and Cultura das mídias (Editora Experimento, 1996, 2nd edition, revised and extended). She is a tenured professor at Pontifícia Universidade Católica ( (PUC-SP), and holds a doctoral degree in Literary Theory from the same university (1973) and became livre-docente professor of communication sciences at the School of Communications and Arts (ECA-USP) (1993). Santaella’s career as a semiotician of local and international repute has centered on achieving solidly grounded understanding of the advent of digital culture and its impact on the arts, literature and culture in general. In 1998, she led the group that developed the pioneering project for a multi-disciplinary graduation course in technology and digital Media at PUC-SP, in order to educate professionals for new areas engendered by the digital revolution. She has written 23 books and over 200 articles published in Brazil and internationally.
