The year 2011 was distinguished by the completion of the ninth edition of Sergio Motta Art and Technology Award, which aimed to promote and disseminate Brazilian artistic production in the area of digital media. Within the programming of the 9th SMATA was held the International Seminar“Circuit and critique of contemporary art post digital media.”
This year, SMI also carried on actions targeted at creative and critical use of technology: it was responsible for planning the Design, Photo and Video area of Campus Party Brazil 2011 and the organization of Futurecom Innovation Award 2011, an initiative that enables new opportunities in telecommunications.
We ended 2011 with the launch of the book “Technological Nomadism”, the result of an international symposium held at Espacio Fundación Telefónica (EFT) – Argentina and Sergio Motta Institute (SMI) – Brazil, in 2009; the publication of the e-book “Creation and Criticism in Image Networks”, about the Online Festivals HTTPpix and HTTPVIDEO 2010 and the nomination of E-LIXO MAPS website for the GreenBest MAPS Award 2012.
We will recess from December 26, 2011 to January 8, 2012.
